This is my first piece done after joining DA. I've learnt alot from viewing work of some amazing artists and though i was a bit intimidated at first, i thought i'd take my first step, in ages, to improvement of my style. ^_^ YAY!
Once again, my most favoured media-Black ball pen on smooth drawing sheet. A5.
I really struggled to get in some detail. Flowers were my challenge here. I'm not good at them . Even the birds. I also tried a bit (a wee bit) with the material around her. Not too satisfied with the result. but eh..it's a start. ^_^!!
This took me some time to do, cause i only spent in between classes to do it in the college library (somehow the only place you can find peace in). So i cant really say how many hours were put in.
Please comment. Suggestions are much needed and appreciated!
The detailwork is impressive, but maybe there's too much of it in too little space? This might be a matter of personal preference, but the image looks somehow crowded to me. Busy, if you understand. Every part is so intricate, I don't know where to look at! I feel like there should be someroom to let the eyes rest and flow from one detail to another, as a kind of transition. (I can kinda understand it though if you were working on a A5 sheet. That's really small.) I see talent and skill in the drawing itself but the composition kinda lets it down. My favourite part is that bird. I think it would be a beutiful piece all on its own.
thank you! ^_^ And yeah i get what you mean. i originally planned at just ending her with the arm and her hair swirling around it. But i guess i sorta got carried away.. XP. The BG was also planned as i white plain BG. But.....yep...lines draw me in. I do think it would've looked better without them, cause it really did do away with alot of other things i had wanted to highlight.. But anyway. Thanks for the comments! ^_^

I want you to participate.
